What we collect

We collect as little as possible. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies on this site. You can read every page without telling us anything about yourself.

Like any website, our web server keeps brief logs of requests, which include IP addresses, for security purposes such as detecting abuse and fixing technical faults. These logs are kept only for a short period and are not used to profile visitors. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and we use it only to deal with your enquiry.

Cloudflare and your browser

The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses in order to protect the site against attacks and to cache pages so they load quickly. This processing is necessary for the site to work securely.

Your choice of light or dark theme and any shopping list you create are stored only in your own browser, using a feature called localStorage. This information is never sent to us, and you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you have the right to ask for access to personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict how it is used and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address on our contact page.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, so please get in touch with us before contacting the ICO if you can.
